Director of Development
Lisa Schwartz joined Alfred Friendly Press Partners in September 2015. In her role as director of development, she leads fundraising for the organization by coordinating efforts among the Board, the Leadership Cabinet, and Alumni, and by developing new partnerships that lead to foundation and government grants on behalf of the mission.
After a years of developing proposals that targeted foundations and government agencies for three schools within the University of Missouri, she became director of development/foundation relations for Mizzou Advancement for eight years. In addition to her focus on higher education, Lisa spent one year in East Africa during the Great Lakes Refugee Crisis (1995) to work for the International Rescue Committee and CARES-America, and served for two years as the U.S. Peace Corps Medical Officer in Cabo Verde, West Africa, managing the health care for the U.S. State Department Embassy/Praia and for the Peace Corps volunteers.
Lisa lived and worked in New York City for 10 years, directing planning for the Department of Health/Bureau of Maternal and Child Health and as assistant editor at the Alan Guttmacher Institute. In addition, she lived for a dozen years in Kansas City, working in public health and as a clinician at Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Lisa earned a B.A. and an M.S.P.H. from the University of Missouri and a B.S. and an M.S. from Columbia University in New York.
