Nov 30 Update from APFF President
Alfred Friendly Press Partners is thankful to announce a $50,000 challenge grant this holiday season.
The grant has been made possible by a generous donor and long-time supporter of the foundation.
If we’re able to match this grant before March 1st, 2025, we’ll be able to host 10 journalists next summer in our month-long program for journalists in exile.
All financial contributions received since September 2024 will be counted (and doubled) thanks to this challenge grant.
Applications for the Summer Program are Open
Alfred Friendly Press Partners, which has trained over 400 journalists from 90 countries for over 40 years, is now accepting applications for its 2025 program.
The fellowship is a four-week in-person program focused on foreign journalists who are living in exile in the US. The program builds skills and resiliency in these areas: Security, Legal, Journalism and Entrepreneurship. Beyond the training, our goal is to create community amongst a diverse group of journalists facing many similar obstacles. One topic – the psychosocial aspects of exile – is embedded throughout many of our conversations, beginning the first day.
Essential expenses – housing, food, transportation – will be covered.
A living stipend of $2,000 per fellow is included.
English proficiency is required.
All finalists will be interviewed by the selection committee.
Applications can be completed here. If you have questions, please contact me at my email below and please forward to those who might be interested.
Deadline for submitting the application is midnight, January 30, 2025.
