David Reed, a journalism educator and veteran news correspondent, has been selected to run Alfred Friendly Press Partners following the departure of Executive Director Kathleen Graham.
Reed is an adjunct professor at The Missouri School of Journalism, former Associated Press correspondent and former senior editor at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. At the journalism school, where students staff the news outlets, Reed was an editor at Missouri Business Alert and an on-air host of Global Journalist, a weekly multimedia show.
Press Partners Board President Randy Smith announced the appointment on Oct. 9.
“I’ve been admiring the accomplishments of the Alfred Friendly Press Partners for years now, and so I’m delighted to join the organization,” Reed said. “The fellows I’ve met are extraordinary and all of them are making positive contributions to the profession in their home countries. I’m eager to work with the board, the host newsroom managers, the fellows and our donors to keep improving the quality of journalism in countries that can really use our help. I’m confident we can expand our reach and our deepen our impact in the years ahead.”
