At the Forever Yogurt store in Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood, customers can take their pick of more than 40 toppings, from fresh fruits and nuts to cookies, candies and cereals.

They can also select and listen to their favorite tunes from a 3 million-song jukebox shaped like a cellphone. Splashes of pink, orange and purple on the walls add to the room’s energy.

“From the onset, we found that creating a store that is inviting and appealing to the customer is equally as important as the quality of the product,” said Mandy Calara, co-founder of Forever Yogurt. “Our stores give young people a comfortable environment to kind of hang out.”
